Series 3 22nd October 2023. Brighton A  5  -  2  Worthing A. **Grant Tully 10,840 - 0 Stuart Carruthers - excellent opener from super stand-in GT giving Stu no chance and an early lead for us. Matthew Knight 9430 - 6060 Joe Oakley** - Joe easily getting to 5k, only to miss the break thick, off, I got them straight back and got to 7.8k with some good fortune before a bad 10 split. Joe did get them back with plenty of time, but left a split short, ending his second break very early. I got them back to ensure a 2-0 lead. Bob Hall 2510 - 12,330 Martin Smith** - Smithy been in good form and no different tonight with an excellent 8.8k opener but he did make a mistake on the time and there was still 7 mins left when he was off messing around near the 50  Bob really fancied his chances, a couple of great shots left him with half a chance but he was unfortunate to take out the right hand peg. Martin did get them back but off missing a split short, Bob a rapid 2k left him thinking what might have been.
**Phil Osborne 8050 - 4100 Kevin Tunstall - massive leg with all the pressure on Phil playing Kev. Off early with a peg it looked curtains as it gave Kev the balls back. Like Joe, Kevin also missed the break but thin, also pegging when trying to get them back at the increasingly difficult back of the table. Phil played a couple of excellent shots and really toughed it out with a very good 8k and touch for a huge win. Kev finished off. Chris Tupper 8820 - 1820 Terry Molloy** - both players off early, Chris getting them back a second time and no messing about as he made a very good 7.5k for the win and an assailable lead. Terry off form with a few issues, and we send him our best. Nigel Senior 0 - 11,150 Stuart Mepham** - Stu looking untroubled in his opening break with 5k but surprisingly missing. Nigel tried everything to get them back, but really tricky with lots of whips and a few missed balls. Stu trying hard also and he was first to get them back and make another 5k for the leg.
**Kevin Hall 2500 - 1520 Gary Ridley - extremely scrappy leg with neither player managing to get to grips with the roll at the back end of the table, both had chances with the break but one-up short and behind not helping either player. As the bar went Gary gave it a good go but a peg ended all chance to give Kev the win in a low scoring leg. Excellent win for the hosts tonight, taking advantage of a couple of missed breaks and some below par performances from our opponents. Thought we also had the run of the balls which always helps. Banter flowed all of it good natured, with lots of laughs making for a good night.

Series 4 19th November 2023.  Worthing A  4  -  3  Redhill A. Terry Molloy *  8900  -  6820  Michael Wilson. Joe Oakley 12060  -  1480 Geoff Jukes *. Gary Ridley 1640  -  8890 John Slee * Martin Smith * 13550  -  380  Gary Powell.  Stuart Mepham 6600  -  Dave Jones *. Stuart Carruthers 1880  -  10970  Colin Robins *. Kevin Tunstall * 10670  -  5470 Dave Constable. With Jersey now gone the time had come for Redhill to make a trip to the Henty, the location in which they sealed their title triumph last year in a rather dramatic manner! A couple of Worthing voices made it known that they fancied a 6-1 or even 7-0 this time, but the reigning champs are no pushover.
First up young Molloy took to the baize and rather started the night as it would go on. The table was rapid and with the new balls sliding down off the cushions a thin split was required. Terry had 3/4 hairy moments, a couple of 20 splits whipped to another hole and a couple of slightly fat splits, but this was common place throughout the night and he recovered well to tap at 8.8k. Michael got them back but a fat 10 split saw him off at 1.8k, but next time he got them back and played the rest out for a breezy 100 splitting 5k. 1-0
Next up Geoff, he who downed the mighty KT in Jersey, was up for Redhill. This was not going to be his night though, coming off at 1k. Joe couldn't get them back initially but at the third attempt he could. Like Terry before there were a couple of dodgy moments early on, but Joe got into his stride and tapped up on 8k - very much admiring his final k. Joe then got them back and finished off to top his score up to 12k. 2-0
So the whitewash was indeed on, but Sleezy had other ideas. After a difficult Tuesday and Wednesday night Slee was looking good on his opener before an unexpected miss on 4.5k, the fat split once again rearing it's head. Gary couldn't get them back but when Slee did his first split went AWOL and Gary still had a chance! The balls were still not being kind to him though and John added another 3.5k to make sure before Gary got the break as the bar went, we've all been there eh!! 2-1
Fourth on was one of Worthing's three singing sensations and Martin was easily the most convincing of the night. Barely putting a foot wrong Martin was getting the red out wide to make the 100 split a bit thicker, and it worked a treat as he went along smoothly to 9k before tapping up. Gary had the misfortune of being the only player not to get onto the break, so Martin added a few more to rack up the nights high score. 3-1
One more frame required for the home side but with two Redhill breaks the champs could force a decider. DJ was up for the away side but was off early with a thin split at 1.2k. 20kStu couldn't retrieve the balls first time, which prompted a disgruntled "how many chances do you want?" from his captain. 20kStu was next to get them back though but he couldn't take full advantage, only getting 1k ahead before breaking down. DJ was still in it and managed to get them back. In proper "Stu Mepham" style DJ managed to use most of the holes on the table in a unique style before a thin 100 split whipped and stayed safe. "Good touch" was the call... 20kStu had to get his running boots on with 5 and a bit k to chase in 4 and a bit minutes. He was perhaps undone by a fat split at the start and a very brief excursion to the back of the table because Stu was going at 25k speed in pursuit but ended 500 short, a valiant effort and a relief for the visitors. 3-2
Next up Captain Colin the Caterpillar - more arms=more pint drinking potential - showed the Redhill mob how it was done with a superb 8k and tap, although naturally there were a couple of fat splits on the way. He was the only Redhillian to make enough first time, and so threw the gauntlet down to his opposing captain to do the same. 3-3
KT with the break.. it's in the bag surely? Well early on that seemed the case, but after a faultless opening couple of k some cracks started to show. Fat splits and bother up the top came his way. But the Kev has held a cue before and he battled on. There was always a sniff that he may come off, but he always found a way to keep it going before a touch up that had scorer Joe's heart in his mouth as the white stopped side-by-side with the peg. 10k and touch, never in doubt was it? A couple of goes each and DC got them back to finish off with 5k, Joe so excited with one particular "Horsham BOOM" that he left out of his seat and took one of the pegs out! Such was the hilarity it was a good job StuC knew what DC was seemed Joe trusted him more than the shouts of "that's 8k" from the Redhill side! 4-3
So an excellent evening at the Henty and the table was excellent - you can tell that from the scores. A delightful sausage curry and chips also filled a hole, with a certain Redhillian managing three portions, who knows who that was!! So the visitors remain top on frames won, but it's now a three way tie at the top with Redhill A, Brighton A and Worthing A all on three wins out of four. One more game to go before Christmas and it's all shaping up rather nicely for an interesting run-in!! (report Michael Wilson).

Series 5 17th December 2023. Brighton B  2  -  5  Worthing A. **Alan Brackenridge 5480 - 2930 Phil Oakley. Moppy Scott 5910 - 6290 Joe Oakley**
Jean Brackenridge 1600 - 12,620 Kevin Tunstall**. **Marcus Chipman 5090 - 2760 Chris Oakley. Bella Stoner 2010 - 5880 Martin Smith**. Michelle Baden 2210 - 11,260 Stuart Mepham**, **Steve Burns 1770 - 5360 Terry Molloy.

Series 6 28th January 2024. Worthing A  4  -  3 Tunbridge Wells. Played 15th April 2024. Terry Molloy * 13380  -  750 Vinny Mitchell. Kevin Tunstall 3710  -  11650 Curt Driver*. Martin Smith 6590  -  5540 Gerry Fitzjohn *. Joe Oakley * 11230  -  740 Richard Arnold. Mike Daw 2200  -  4770 Ian Wright *. Stuart Carruthers 10940  -  3150 Martin Russell *. Stuart Mepham * 3860  5490 Bryan Stevens.

Series 7 18th February 2024. West Sussex  4  -  3  Worthing A. **Chris Cox 5520 - 1280 Terry Molloy. Barry Holt 4750 - 8080 Joe Oakley**. Daniel Wheal 9350 - 1440 Kevin Tunstall**. **Ian Cross 7690 - 790 Martin Smith. Kevin Charlton 3660 - 9670 Stuart Carruthers**. Melissa Beach 170 - 9850 Mike Daw**. **Martin Cole 16,860 - 0 Stuart Mepham.

Series 8 17th March 2024. Worthing A  4  -  3  Brighton A. **Mike Daw 9950 - 5220 Phil Osborne - a couple of thick splits and a nervous moment when a recovery shot went close to the peg but Mike recovered well and completed a very good opening break which gave Phil no chance. Phil played well himself running the rest of the time out. Kevin Tunstall 0 - 6060 Jim Millward** - captain Nigel "I'm going second whatever" nowhere to be seen as Jim took on Kev. An early thick split from Jim sent the red behind the 50 and nothing next shot. Both then ended up missing a tricky ball behind the right hand 30 before Kevin got it spot on and potted both. Kev looked in great form but from nowhere a split hit the right hand side of the 100 and took out the left hand peg, still plenty for Jim to do but excellent clearance and touching on enough for 1-1. Terry Molloy 590 - 11,400 Nigel Senior** - as everyone knows Nigel really struggles on the Henty top and against Terry, tonight no exception as two breaks for less than 2k. However, some unusually tame attempts to get them back from Molly gave Nige a third chance and this time no mistake to put us in the lead. **Stuart Carruthers 16,550 - 850 Kevin Hall - a couple of nervy splits early on from Stuart but he recovered well, making enough first time with an excellent leg to draw the hosts level. No chance for Kev and Stu added some more. Joe Oakley 0 - 14,700 Matthew Knight** - disappointed that I needed two goes to seal the leg, but with Joe also playing a tame shot in trying to get them back I made enough second visit to put us back in front. Stuart Mepham 13,250 - 170 Bob Hall** - Bob started well but, seemingly a few verbals put him off and he pegged a shot or two later and gave Mep the balls back. Stu struggled a little early but settled down with his signature 50/10 and made 7.5k before coming off. Bob would have needed to fly but he didn't get them back so that was that. **Martin Smith 10,890 - 4150 Chris Tupper - faultless opener from Martin in the decider, can't have been many better breaks with the pressure and the league very much in the balance so well done to him. Tupps, looking good on the top again, ran the rest of the time out. Well done to Worthing on their win which throws the league wide open. Plenty of tension during the match, but as usual, plenty of us stayed late afterwards, with plenty of bar billiards chat and a few laughs - think Nigel enjoyed the beer a little too much!. (Report Matt Knight).

Series 9 7th April 2024 Redhill A  v  Worthing A. Geoff Jukes* 11660 - 160 Gary Ridley. Colin Robbins 340 - 12870* Joe Oakley. John Slee 5300-5040* Martin Smith. Dave Jones* 5800 - 4830 Kevin Tunstall. Michael Wilson 5230 - 0 *Stu Carruthers. Dave Constable 1870 - 4300* Terry Molloy. Gary Powell* 1510 - 14320 Stu Mepham. With the end of the season fast approaching and Redhill destined to lose their crown, Worthing A came to Merstham knowing a win would put them in pole position to take the title back to the south coast. Geoff opened up for the hosts but his initial break made plenty of use of the 20s on the split, and not in the conventional way. One whipped from the 100 and another couple whipped from the 10 before a 100 split shot back towards the RH 50. At this point, 4.5k in Geoff couldn't get the back. Gary came to the table but was quickly off and Geoff went about settling the frame with a much more settling 4k before the "nothing silly" shouts came from Captain Col. Gary tried to get the back but the Merstham top is a cruel mistress and Geoff was the one who got to add a few more at the end. 1-0. Next up El Capitano faced off against Joe and, like his Prince of Wales teammates in the Worthing league, he made the table look easy. His initial one-up was left too high, but one pot and a split was all he needed to rack up a superb 9k break, 100-splitting without fail before tap-tapping for the leg. Col couldn't get them back and Joe added another 3.5k. 1-1. After that super display from Joe, the question was could Worthing play it like West Sussex could? Well the answer to that came quickly... no. Martin's struggles started super early with the red short on the break and he grafted his way to 3.5k before coming off. Sleezy then took to the table and needed to summon all his powers of concentration, a super clear and he had the break back. Although Joe had made it look easy, plenty of the Redhill mob had struggled finding the split in practice and given Slee had sneakily hitched a lift with StuC he had to learn on the job. Well Slee was going well until.. uh oh.. more pace required on the one-up and he was off at 4k! With 500 the gap and 4 or so minutes to go, Martin suddenly became favorite and he quickly cleared the balls. He probably only needed the one split, but he had to go for the 10 and it whipped horribly behind the 30. He kept his score but was off only 500 up and then Sleezy pulled out the shot of the night. By hook or by crook a mighty "BOOM" could be heard as Slee potted all three balls first shot, he added one set of breaks and split and the bar went with him just in front. Pot enough balls and tap tap and the steal was complete. 2-1. So having got that crucial leg against the break, Davey Jones was summoned from his locker - where he was quite happily watching the snooker - to try and ramp up the pressure on the visitors. This in kind drew the might of KT from the bench, looking to "break back". Dave struggled to start, the split looked uncomfortable and he was trying to find his rhythm. But a couple of k in he seemed to be settling down before the old roll at the back of the table caught him out and he was off at 4k. KT leapt into action but then had to return to his seat - the Merstham top up to it's old tricks. From here both players were struggling at the back of the table, adding a few but unsuccessful in their mission to get the balls back before KT managed to do it, 5k down by now, with time in hand. As you'd expect he started calmly, but once again the old tops whippy nature caused problems and KT was off on 2k. Dave added a few hundred but Kev got them straight back. He had to go quick, but in rushing his first split the 50 popped out and put pay to his chances of chasing Dave down. 2.5k to finish and Redhill were firmly in the driving seat. 3-1. So Worthing really needed to win the last three and it was StuC who was next to the table. Once again issues with the whippy 10/20 saw a player come off, Stu only opening with 1.5k. Michael took a couple of goes to get them back, and when he did he came off with only 1k in a similar manner. From there it was all about who could work out the top of the table and both players had chances, it was Michael who got it right first though, clearing up with six minutes to go. The first k was dodgy again, struggling to find the line on the 100 split, but from there Michael added 4k before tap-tapping when the call came. A black peg for Stu on the 100 saw him lose his score, but Michael had already sealed the victory for the home side. 4-1. With two "dead rubbers" to go Terry got to break against DC, opening with 2k. The only other thing the author can recall is DC "doing a Slee" (or Rick as it is known in Worthing circles) leaving the one-up on the edge. Otherwise a fairly friendly game saw Terry pull a leg back. 4-2. Then to finish, Gary had the break but his second split was thick and he was off with only 1.5k. StuM then stepped up to deliver the nights highest break, despite a few "lucky Stus" in the opening couple of k, he raced off into the distance. He may have tapped up at 11k, but a booo from scorer Wilson encouraged him to carry on and he then didn't tap-tap until the bar went, an excellent 14,320 break to seal the final consolatory frame for the visitors. 4-3. So, after two consecutive home losses Redhill get back to winning ways in Merstham. With Brighton victorious against Tunbridge Wells, Worthing were dealt a real blow by the defending champions. With the final round of fixtures next month will Brighton finish the job against the West Sussex crew, or can last years B-division champions spring a surprise and give themselves or Worthing the chance to catch the leaders?? (Report Michael Wilson).

Series 10 28th April 2024 Worthing A  v  Brighton B.

Worthing B team reports appear here.

Series 1 24th September 2023.  Redhill B 4  -  3  Worthing B. *Tom Pearse 3720 - Dave Jones 2540. Paul Trottman 340 - *Roger Taylor 7700.
Clive Thompson 1490 -
*Rick Cunningham 6130. *Mark Fraser 3680 -  Alan Mepham 2480. Martin Greenway 4620 - *Tony Jenner 2250.
Alex Hornby 4600 - *James Whittle 2460. *Joe Elleson 3210 - Dave Ingram 3330. With young Michael having moved up to the A's, it befalls me to put some meat around the bones - whilst probably not matching the articulacy of his reports ..... Frame 1 Tom, fresh from Widecombe Fair got us off to a good start against Wishbone Ash fan (1) who was devoid of any luck. Mixed reaction from Tom who stated he does not want us to be too successful over the course of the season "in case we have to go up". 1-0. Frame 2 Trotter against Dipper, who took a while to get going but - helped by Paul's lack of luck - eventually did, playing a game worthy of a man who was playing for Sussex 50 years ago - longer than any in the current county team. 1-1. Frame 3 Wishbone Ash fan (2) experienced deja vu from last Tuesday, failing to add to a bright start and then having his trousers taken down by his opponent. 1-2. Frame 4 A few anxious moments for our super skip, but a nice break at the end saw a virtual repeat of frame one. 2-2. Frame 5 The Jenneral making the early running, but Martin overhauled him with two good breaks, and leaving the balls awkward each time. A couple of well-executed get-out shots proved to be of no avail. 3-2. So as the food came out the match stood delicately poised and both sides in desperate need of a hero .....
We found ours in "Horley Hornby" who at first it seemed was going to be "Whittled" after James's great start, but Alex finished off in majestic style. 4-2. So on to the "dead rubber" which turned out to be more "flubber" than rubber as the two game competitors breathed life into it: this was the closest leg of the night, with the table seemingly difficult and as a result "proper billiards" having to be played on it (none of this 3 down 1 up and split stuff). Joe seemed to have judged the game to perfection at the end, needing the two whites to win by 30, but left one short and missed the last-ball 100 - which a grateful Warrior potted. 4-3. A good match played amongst friends, and gallant Worthing gracious in defeat but must be wondering on their return journey to the wilds of Sussex how this one managed to get away. (Report Clive Thompson).

Series 2 8th October 2023 Worthing B 6  -  1 Littlehampton.   James Whittle *  6740  -  900 John Dynes. Alan Mepham 2670  -  4130  Steve Beach *. Dave Ingram 5800  -  0  Chris Lawman *.  Roger Taylor * 3560  -  1850  Eric Mole. Dave Jones 4290  -  2980  Colin Green *. Tony Jenner 7320 -  730 Mick Moore *. Rick Cunningham * 9050  -  100  Dave Hampton. A good win for Worthing B, plenty of banter, some oohs and aahs with spun 100 splits but the Bs taking the chances presented to them.  James first one up both balls short, but despite a 200 and 100 shot John unable to get the balls back (top of table very unforgiving) and James had a 2k+ and 3k+ break to make sure.  Steve opened with 3k+ and Alan gave it a good go getting the break back 3 times and was nearly level when he took a white peg and gave a grateful Steve the break back with about a minute to go.  Chris opened with 3k+ including a few excursions around the table. Dave balls back and with determination stayed on the table for a 5k+ break and touch with the bar due (in Dave`s own words I do not know how I stayed there). Chris still had time to take the black out going for a ball behind the 10.  Roger lost his opening break but despite getting the break back Eric was unable to take advantage, then both players struggled scoring much and also being unable to keep scores. Roger did enough to put us in a strong position 3-1 up.  Colin opened with 2k+ but was unable to get the balls back again. Dave did a couple of times and made sure.  Mick off early, TJ balls back but a poor shot at 1.3k meant he was off. Mick unlucky to peg close to 2k break and TJ balls back and no mistake this time touching on 5k+ to make sure.  Rick started well but off at 2k+, Dave could not get them back and Rick did and set about getting past the captains score and did so with 6k+ and touch turning to smile at TJ as he did so.  A good night with Littlehampton as usual and thank you to Stuart the landlord who had forgotten we were playing last night for rustling up a lovely Scampi and chips supper, which went down well.

Series 3 22nd October 2023 Bye.

Series 4 19th November 2023.  Lewes  3  - 4  Worthing B Jan Bithell * 4350  -  0  Alan Mepham. Huw Lincoln 630  -  3550 James Whittle *.Richard Todd 2080  -   5970 Rick Cunningham *. Dave Knight * 7280  -  130 Dave Jones. Colin Southouse  3890  -  4780 Roger Taylor *. Chase Newman 2410  -  3850 Dave Ingram *. Rick Bithell * 8020  -  1040  Tony Jenner.  A match that certainly could have gone either way with all getting good chances to win their game, table playing well but enough quirks to catch you out and it certainly did most of us.

Series 5 17th December 2023. Worthing B  5  -  2  Mid Sussex. Pete Hickman * 6060  -  1400 Paul Moyes Robb. Roger Taylor 6540  -  1570 Graham Sparksman *. Dave Jones 1120  -  6910 Derek Taylor *. Rick Cunningham * 7260  -  1540  Andy Farmer-Wright. James Whittle 170  -  10050 Barry West *. Tony Jenner 7870  -  2630 Paul Jobbins *. Dave Ingram * 13670  -  200 Ros Appleby. A good night with Mid Sussex at the Alex with many games in the balance. Thanks to Pete for stepping in with Alan Mepham under the weather. Plenty of chances in this one with Pete off early, Paul balls back but also off early. Pete then got the balls back a further 5 times and manage to find many ways to either come off early or lose his score but did keep the scoreboard ticking over enough to make sure the home team got of to a solid start. Graham off at around 1k, Roger balls back but off early. Roger first to get them back and made sure this time with 5k+ break so Worthing now in control of their own destiny.
Derek opened with a steady 5.3k leaving Dave time if he could get the balls back but with the top of the table being rather unkind this did not happen so one back for the away team. Rick off at 1.5k but Andy unable to take advantage and Rick got them back and settled down to make sure of keeping Worthing`s advantage. Very good opener of 5.4k for Barry leaving James in the same situation of needing the balls back quickly but as it was Barry got them back and finished of for a good 10k game and keeping the match alive. With 10 minutes in Paul had had 2 breaks and was leading by 2.3k as I could not find the right shots to get the break back. A good clearance (well I say so myself) and I was on the break and got to 5k+ with 2 minutes left and touched. Paul unlucky not to get them back but I did and finished off, giving us the victory. In the last Dave opened with 6k and with Ros not getting them back Dave amassed another 7k break to end with the highest score and give Worthing a very good win. Not a bad first half of the season for us after a blib at Redhill, and nice to have a settled team (except for illness) after a couple of seasons making sure we turned out with 7. Wishing everyone a  Christmas and may the New Year bring you happiness and good health.

Series 6 28th January 2024. Worthing B  2  -  5  Redhill B. Pete Hickman * 6590  -  3520 Alex Hornby. Roger Taylor 2980  -  8180 Clive Thompson *.

James Whittle 3980  -  5070 Anita Blackman *. Rick Cunningham * 16130 (8400 break)  -  0 Neville Blackman. Dave Ingram 3560  -  4870 Jim Balchin *. Tony Jenner 4150  -  6070 Mark Fraser *. Dave Jones * 4670  -  6980 Tom Pearce. Rick`s opening break 8400 and when Neville missed Rick got them back and finished off. As Clive says a good evening with our friends from Redhill, game played in a sporting manner with plenty of friendly banter. First 6 games could have gone either way. Pete off early but Alex unable to get them back and Pete added 5k +, Alex when he got them back did not look like missing but short of time. Clive off at about 2k, Roger balls back but off at 900, Clive then made sure with good 5k+. Anita good 4k+ opener, James first to get them back and looking good but left one up short at 2.5k with plenty of time left. Anita then controlled the game for her win. As said above Rick in no mood to give Neville a chance. Jim two breaks to build around 2k before Dave got them back and looking good to pull us back into the match but as he will openly say made a pigs ear of a shot and off, Jim got them back and kept his nerve to finish the game off. Mark off at around 2k and with TJ getting no luck at the back of the table, Mark added 6k and 800 breaks. TJ eventually cleared the balls with about 3 minutes left and finished off with 4k break. Last Game as Clive says basically one break each, Dave getting a good opener but Tom always looked comfortable in the chase and made sure of a good away win. Table playing well and Redhill took their chances well putting them in pole position to win the league.

Series 6 18th February 2024. Littlehampton  3  -  4  Worthing B Colin Green * 3820  -  2590 Tony Collins. Chris Lawman 8050  -  2680 James Whittle *. Kayliegh Tizzard 2290  -  5510 Rick Cunningham *. Steve Beach * 1940  -  2350 Dave Jones. Mick Moore  940  -  3680 Roger Taylor *.

Joh Dynes 2030  -  2660  Dave Ingram *. Dave Hampton * 5880  -  3770 Tony Jenner. Well an interesting night at the Locomotive. Colin off early and Tony playing well made the running, both players had the break back a couple of times and it was all about level with about 2 minutes left when Colin got them back again and crawled over the line. Worthing captain took a calculated gamble on the next but James off with less than 1k, Chris balls back and made a good 6600 break to make sure, James got them back and this time did get going but all to no avail. Gamble did not come off and now thinking the worst with Steve Beach and Mr H to come and two break games needed to win it. Rick built a 3k lead, Kayliegh eventually got the balls back and made a very good 2k break, Rick balls back to make sure of the win and maintaining his 100% record. Steve normally very reliable on the Locomotive pegged his opener, Dave balls back but lost his opener as well. Steve balls back off at 900, Dave built a lead but Steve on the table when the bar went. Worked it round to needing the red in the 200 to win but went high, Dave made sure of the 100 first time to keep the match alive. Roger off early but got the break back twice more to build a lead which he kept throughout to level the match. Next Littlehampton`s captain to have both teams looking puzzled when John`s name went down rather then Mr H. Dave though off early and then it turned into a top of the table battle and with the scores very close John got the break back, off at about 1400 with a 1200 lead and 2 minutes left. Dave got them back and made sure. to give Worthing the match win. Mr H off at 2.5k, me balls back but at 1500 spun the white out on the one up leaving both up. Mr H 3k and touch, I got them back but ran out of time. Nice sausage and chips to finish. With Lewes beating Redhill B we now see with 6 games played 3 teams on 8 points and all on the same legs difference of won 24 and lost 18 with 2 games to go.

Series 8 17th March 2024.  Worthing B have a bye.

Series 9 7th April 2024 Worthing B  5  -  2 Lewes. Rick Cunningham* 9830 (5080 break)  -  2200 Richard Todd. Pete Hickman 3160  -  1740 Jan Bithell *. Dave Jones 4790  -  3420  Trevor Rees *. Dave Ingram * 6560 (6370 break)  -  4440 (4440 break) Dave Knight. James Whittle 2910  -  3530 Huw Lincoln *. Roger Taylor 5420  -  6380  Colin Southouse *. Tony Jenner * 8780 (8730 break) -  2490 Chase Newman. Rick opened with 5080 and with Richard getting no luck at all Rick was first to get them back and put the game to bed 1-0. Jan off early, Pete balls back but pegged 3k, from there it was a battle with both players struggling to get hold of the table (very whippy at the back end this evening) Pete got himself into the lead and remained there to pinch an important leg in a match where we could not lose if we were to still be in with a chance of winning the league. 0-2. Trevor normally likes the Alex table but off early this evening, Dave got a couple of k to build a lead and like Pete he stayed in front. 0-3. Dave Ingram looking comfortable until he went up the top of the table and off at 6370. Dave got them back and had a chance time wise but due to difficulty with his breathing was never on time and broke down after the bar with 4440 break. Dave finished off. 0-4. Huw opened with over 1k, James unable to get the balls back but kept scoring, Huw had two more breaks to build 2.5k lead. James balls back but broke down at 2k and Huw made sure of his first win of the season. 1-4. Colin opened with just over 5k, Roger balls back and going well but left one up short at 2k, Colin balls back and added another 1.3k. Roger balls back but ran out of time 2-4. TJ going well at about 3k when the other TJ turned up and 4 times the break. Chase unable to take advantage, TJ balls back and touched on 8730, Chase finished off. 5-2.
With Redhill having a bye it now means Redhill, Lewes and Worthing B are all on 10 points. Lewes have their bye last series so looks between Worthing and Redhill. Worthing go to Mid Sussex and Redhill are home to Littlehampton. At the moment Worthing have a slight edge with a 9 legs difference to Redhill`s 7 legs difference. Worthing are also ahead on aggregate score. Thank you to Lewes for a good evening as usual.
